I am often asked what is the one thing you would do to help a home sell. If you are looking for pure “wow” factor it would have to be art. Art makes everything more beautiful and elevates a room. It doesn’t have to be expensive just a statement piece that reflects your personality. If you are unsure about an art display, ask your agent who can tell you what is appropriate.
Apartment Therapy founder Maxwell Ryan talks about the importance of art in a home:
“I have lots of art hanging in my living room. Many of them are by my mother, Mary Ryan, and I have several from a friend who lives in the Bay Area who has been painting for many years named Emily Payne. I believe art is the most aspirational part of the home, and the most spiritual. It’s not essential — you don’t eat on it, you don’t sit at it, you don’t wipe your feet on it — and that’s what makes it so special.”
